Kunos have released an extended video explaining both the ongoing development situation with Assetto Corsa Evo (ACE), and revealing much more about the long awaited Eifel free roam mode.

Take a look at the video containing some stunning footage of the new incoming content, before some thoughts from SIRA below.

While negative community commentary about ACE has felt like its grown louder since the EA launch back in January 2025 -much due to sporadic updates with limited new content- SIRA is a strong believer in the title. Not especially for its content or features, most of which we have seen in plenty other titles before, but for the quality of its content and my personal feeling that Kunos are genuinely raising the quality bar within Sim Racing - that is, outside of the already stratospheric quality bar of the Gran Turismo series.

And I don't mention GT lightly, as I feel that Kunos are looking directly at the likes of GT7 to be inspired by that titles' incredible visual fidelity, and overall polish. Of course, I'll readily take any Assetto Corsa title over any Gran Turismo title any day for its handling and Sim Racing aspects.

Back to the free roam, and Kunos's Marco Massarutto explains the genuine freedom that players will have in this mode, to the extent of exiting your vehicle and walking around the environment.

There will also be optional Time Attack and Checkpoint events, which I believe allow Players to simply drive up to, to initiate - rather than having to use any UI or Menu options.

Multiplayer lobbies will allow players to cruise, meet up, and explore the Eifel roads together. There are car dealerships, gas stations and interactive Points-of-Interest (POI's) shown on a Forza-style Map also.

Finally, Marco mentioned further improvements to modding within the title - that solely is a huge reason why the original Assetto Corsa title has stood the test of time.

And... release date?

Free roam will first be seen at the Sim Racing Expo held in Frankfurt, between 16-18 October at Frankfurt Messe Hall 12.

The release date will be confirmed at the event with he public release occurring shortly after, according to Massarutto.

Looking forward to it!
