Automobilista 2 - V1.6.9.95 will include another legendary 90's GT1 car
Renato Simioni at Reiza Studios has just announced Automobilista 2's next update will include one of the most recognisable GT cars in history - the Panoz Esperante GTR-1.
Powered by a thunderous 600 BHP Ford V8, the GTR-1 was apparently the fastest GT1 car around Le Mans
For SIRA this feels like Christmas Day. The GT1 series from 1993-1998 (before the GT1 series reappeared in a slightly different guise in 1999, following Mercedes killing the series by demolishing the opposition with its CLK GTR) is probably my favourite Series/Class/Era of Motorsports.
The GT1 series offered bespoke 200 MPH+ prototypes loosely based on real road cars, racing at legendary global circuits including many in the USA (where F1 rarely trod at that time).
From a marques perspective, the offering was unbeatable : Porsche, McLaren, Ferrari (in earlier series with racing variants of the F40), Lotus, Mercedes, Jaguar and even Lamborghini with its Diablo GT1.
And of course... US-based Panoz with its incredible snarling, large-nostrilled Esperante GTR-1.
FUN FACTS
I remember distinctly the front-engined Panoz's Teams struggling with heat wash from the engine which was ahead of the Drivers - a reason why mid/rear engined car packaging may work better in some situations. Fortunately, you shouldn't experience that in AMS2 (unless you've got your room heater on too high).

But lets get back to AMS2 and the September update will also include the following :
AI improvements including track detection, hazard-avoidance and race-craft
New AI Traction Skill and AI Brake Skill Scalar settings (adding to the existing AI Wet Skill Scalar settings)
User-configurable Qualifying and Parc Ferme rules, CPU Performance during weather transitions, and additional bug fixes.

And to clarify one important thing - this update will be FREE to all AMS2 owners, it does not require any DLC as the GT1 Class is part-and-parcel of this incredible title (and if you haven't bought it already, why not?!)
Super excited for this update - cannot wait to see, drive and best of all HEAR that Panoz in action!
