Automobilista (AMS for short) is a motorsports racing simulator for PC released in 2016 ; created by Reiza Studios and lead by Brazil-based Renato Simioni with a global team.

The title is the successor to Reizas' 2013 title Stock Car Extreme, and carries over a number of Brazilian racing series such as Stock Car V8, Copa Petrobras de Marcas, Formula 3 Brasil and the Mitsubishi Lancer Cup - including complete Cars and Tracks from their 2015 championships.

Automobilista also includes a large number of unofficial F1-class cars from many eras, provided in fictional liveries - though 3rd party modders often create official skins and liveries to allow Players to experience races with more accurate grids.

At time of publishing, AMS offers 9 DLC packs on Steam.

Automobilista was succeeded by Automobilista 2 in 2020.

THE GOOD

  • Highly regarded physics and handling ; SIRA regards AMS's handling to be one of -if not the- best in Sim Racing to date

  • A refreshing bias towards South American content

  • A great selection of (unofficial) F1-class cars

  • Will run effortlessly on modern PC's

THE LESS GOOD

  • Graphics engine now very dated

  • VR support -while working- is unofficial

  • South American content may not appeal (or be familiar) to all

  • No career mode
