As reported previously here on SIRA, last year French-US publisher Nacon secured a 5 years rights deal to develop official WRC titles until 2032. This came after EA Sports and the erstwhile Codemasters stepped away from the licensing agreement.

So we were keenly awaiting more news of the next WRC titles, and now we not only have a date, but confirmation of its official name, first car, and plenty of behind-the-scenes footage from the development team.

Firstly - confirmation of the games' official title : ‘WRC – The Official Game’.

Secondly - confirmation that the game will be released in 2027.

Thirdly - the first Car confirmed for the title -already laser-scanned by the team- is the Lancia Ypsilon HF Integrale Rally2.

It appears that the title will use Unreal Engine 5, which should certainly provide high-fidelity graphics, but there's always a concern about performance owing to Unreal not being the most suitable for racing titles. Assetto Corsa Competizione was a bit of an outlier making use of this Engine and could require considerable GPU horsepower to achieve best results.

Nacons' Summer 2026 Showcase also shares some more insights about the initial development and approach to the game.

The Video below should jump directly to the segment about the WRC title :

All this news further emphasises Nacons' continuing push into the Arcade and Sim Racing segment, including a raft of new Hardware incoming from Nacons' Gaming and Racing brand Revosim as well as its Strategy-first, Racing-second title 'Endurance Motorsport Series', MXGP 26 and Arcade Racers Gear Club Unlimited 3 and Test Drive Solar Crown.

Quite the impressive portfolio.

For SIRA, Nacons' WRC title provides a tantalising glimpse into next year : will the incredible Assetto Corsa Rally have a worthy competitor?

Watch this space.
