GT Legends is a sports car racing simulator by Simbin, based on the 2005 FIA Historic Racing Championships which feature GTC and TC cars from the 60's and 70's.
There was - and still is - some confusion about the games contents because it features Historic Racing Cars on Modern Circuits (of the time).
This was due to it being based on the FIA Historic Racing Championships, which would allow the Developer and Publisher licensing use of specific Cars and Locations.
Though it does include different times of day, the game does not include any wet weather racing. It also has a reduced damage model.
GT Legends includes about 80% of the tracks from GTR - though its Car list is entirely different.

SimBin renamed themselves to Sector3 in 2014, before being acquired in January 2022 by German automotive parts manufacturer KW Automotive who renamed the the company to KW Studios. KW Studios would go on to create RaceRoom Racing Experience in 2013.
Fun Fact
Some consider forthcoming title Project Motor Racing as a spiritual successor to the GTR series.
